Dormitories

Dormitory, St Mary's Home, Cheam

About this imageLink opens in a new window

The children slept in dormitory bedrooms. Some of these were quite large and may have had 20 beds or more.

They had to keep the rooms tidy and the rooms were inspected by staff.

The children were supposed to keep quiet after lights-out but sometimes they would whisper stories to each other in the dark.
