Case 1138

1. Application to Waifs and Strays' Society c. May 1887

View the Case Summary.

P is 14 years of age, her home is exceedingly poor and wretched, and she is surrounded by evil companions. She is at present engaged as maid-of-all-work and earns 2/- a week, but does not sleep at her Employer's. - She occasionally attends Sunday School & Church, but I have reason to believe that she prefers the following the Salvation Army. - She attends a Bible Class & Sewing class which I have every week. - She was born in a gipsy's van on Kennington or Kensington Green, her mother was a gipsy, but I think not so her father. - She has her grandmother (mother's mother) still living, she is a very respectable old gipsy, and would gladly see G sent away from the temptations which beset her. -
