Leicester Aug. 31

Dear Miss J.,

I hardly know how to express my thanks to you, for your kindness to me, regarding your letter - cheque this morning. I am sure it will be a great help to me, as my work is still very short. I only go for half the days now, which of course doesn't mean much money at the week-end.

You will know, that I shall make the best use of it. Miss Bates advise me, to get some warm underwear with a part of it, which I intend doing, as I always feel the cold in the winter. I cannot help thinking it is extremely kind of you, to go to so much trouble for me. I only wish I could do something for you, but I do appreciate you kindness & thought for me.
