Mr. J. continued

A Club, of which he was a member as the firm who employed him, is providing £12 towards the funeral expenses; this will scarcely be enough and if we could add the £10 from the O.B.L a promised it would not doubt pay the funeral expenses. I don't expect they will be able to get the money out of the Post Office for some time, it may be 2 or 3 months before settlement.

I might also mention, that as he was the first boy rescued they, family, think that the Society might do something for the widow, and all the more so because she is not normal and that although has left [her] £165, he was not able to save any more owing to his indifferent health. They ask me continually what I think will be done, & of course I cannot answer them. I still fear that if this money gets in the hands of the son-in-law it will be absolutely waste anything you would like
