View the Case Summary.

Sir

The children on whose behalf I write are well know to me having been in my class at the Sunday School St. Giles Norwich. I have known the parents for 19 ys. the father is blind brought on mainly by the impure life the wife led she is a most degraded creature having left her husband & children on several occasions & is at this present time away from her home living in sin with another man the eldest daughter is now in a home for fallen girls having followed the evil example of her mother the woman has been convicted of stealing much effort has been put forth to help her but all attempts to raise her has failed the Guardians here refuse to give outdoor relief & unless you are able to accede to our urgent request the Workhouse is the only hope before them. I should be grieved to see the poor fellow obliged to go there. I can say with all truth having visited the home on scores of different date (several at the request of the Magistrate) of the case treatment the poor fellow has received at his wife's hand trusting this application may be successful.

I remain
Yours truly
