View the Case Summary.

The boy's mother left her husband in 1884. The boy was born in 1886. It was never discovered who the father was. Since his mother's death, the boy has been living with his Grandfather, W, who receives Parish Relief. As a half-time, the boy was errand-boy to Miss F, bookseller, Union Street Halifax. In February of this year he stole four guineas which had been given him to take to the Bank. Since that date, he has been in the Halifax Workhouse.
