June 4th -/01.

Dear Sir,
re H.

Mrs. Brooking, the Hon. Secretary of the Society's S. Aldhelm's Home, Frome, has forwarded me your letter of the 20th ultimo. In reply, I beg to say that this lad left the Home referred to with a good character in July -/00 and was placed in a Home for Working Lads, 261, South Lambeth Road, S.W. On the 18th March last the Hon. Sec., of this Institution wrote :- "I think it only right that you should know that H. one of the Orphan Boys you sent to us has gone to live with his Grandmother. As long as he was at School and had to be entirely provided for, they did not disturb him, but directly he was earning 8/- a week they on more occasions that one induced him to stay away from the Home without permission. I fear we made a mistake in adopting a boy who had relatives living so close, & a boy who had friends in a position to support him had they been pressed. I find they are fairly well to do people."

If, therefore, you are anxious to obtain any later information as to the boy's character etc., would you mind writing direct to C. A. Stein Esqr., (the Hon. Sec.,).

Yours faithfully,
The Hon. Sec., Battersea "C.O.S."
