Case 8645

18. Letter from Mr Powell of St Benet's Home to Revd Edward Rudolf about H's proposed removal to learn cabinet making and his possible bright prospects if allowed to continue with his education 7 November 1907

View the Case Summary.

we find that - as the enclosed letter shows - the service pipe at our Home is much too small & the cost of laying on a large main would be very heavy, some 120 yards [?] moreover a village fire-hose service is just about to be established at Emmer Green Village close by. The Home too is so built as to be well nigh fire proof. The Committee decided to bug some chemical fire-extinguishers at a cost of 24/- and I believe that sufficient protection against possible fire is thus ensured.
