Dear Miss Stancliffe
re L

I have received your letter and enclosures respecting the above-named girl. At first sight it seems a most difficult problem as to the future of the poor child, but I will give the matter full consideration. I am much afraid that the Wakefield Guardians (even if Sharlston is in the district) would not recognise their responsibility, as the girl has apparently secured a settlement in another Union area. The Society's financial condition is such a serious one at the present moment (there now being a deficit of over £8, 000 on our General Account) that I do not see how we can promise much assistance after L reaches a certain age.
With kind regards
I remain,

Yours Sincerely
E de M R
