Description:

J's father died of pleurisy in 1879 and in 1883 his mother entered the Lambeth Infirmary and was described as being in a "decline". She was obviously unable to work or maintain herself and her children. It was hoped that J. would go with his brother who was being sent to St Mark's Home, Natland, Cumberland. In August 1883 J. was accepted into St Mark's Home.
