Seagry Manor in Chippenham was probably opened specifically to accommodate evacuated children during the Second World War.

In 1940 residents were evacuated to Seagry Manor from the Victoria Gibbs Memorial Home for Babies, Bristol. In 1943 the Home closed when residents moved to Fairfield Home for Babies, Bath.
