Eythorne Home For Boys
Eythorne Home For BoysEythorne, nr. Dover, Kent (1891 - 1895) In 1890 it was proposed that a home should open in Eythorne (near Dover) which could accommodate eighteen boys. During October of this year the local churches around Eythorne held sermons, and managed to raise £50 for the new Home. Unfortunately we know very little else about the Home, as it is rarely appears in our records. There is no mention of the Home's official opening, though we believe that it was running by the latter half of 1891, as it is described in the August edition of Our Waifs and Strays as the “new Home.” For reasons we do not know, the Home closed in 1895. |
