Treeman's Nursery, Horsted Keynes

Horsted Keynes, Sussex

(1939 - 1944)

Treeman's Nursery opened as a War Emergency Home in 1939 to accommodate residents from Saints Peter and Paul Home for Babies in Catford, London. The children travelled to their new Home by bus and were kept safe on the bottom decks while mattresses lined the top deck in case of enemy action.

In 1944 Treeman's Nursery was subsequently evacuated to Kingsdown Nursery, Lambourn, Berkshire.
