Nayworth Cottage Home, Hurstpierpoint

Hurstpierpoint, Sussex

(1904 - 1911)

Nayworth Cottage Home was a small convalescent home, which could only accommodate 18 girls. The Home is infrequently mentioned in our records, and so we possess very little information about its history. We know that the Home was established to look after sick children 'by the kindness' of Mr Worthington Church. This type of home was commonly called a 'convalescent home'.

Percy J Smith worked as Nayworth Cottage's Honorary Secretary. It came as a disappointment to him, and to other local people, when the Society deemed the Home too small, and relocated the children to Broadstairs in 1911.
