Newcastle Diocesan Home, Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland

(1883 - 1889)

This was the predecessor home to the Netherton Girls' Home.

The Home had originally started in 1883 under the auspices of 'Mrs Wilberforce [wife of the Bishop of Newcastle] and a committee of ladies in premises at Ravensworth Terrace, Newcastle'.

When the Home moved to Nedderton it also transferred to the management of The Waifs and Strays Society. One of the chief advantages was financial support from the Society whilst the Home was building up its own supporters.
