East Court Nursery, 'East Court', Ramsgate

'East Court', Ramsgate, Kent

(1953 - 1982)

Florence Anderson House Home was established with the Florence Anderson Memorial Fund that was bequeathed to local charities in the 1950s. Residents from Davidson Nursery, Broadstairs moved to the Home in 1953. The Home was formally opened in 1954 by the Duchess of Gloucester and dedicated by the Bishop of Dover. The Home accommodated 24 babies between the ages of two months and two years old. In 1971 the nursery began accommodating 15 older children from the Bexhill Home which had closed that year. This was the fifth Children's Society Home to become an 'all-range' Home. The Home is assumed to have closed in 1982, when the records end.
