Hidden Lives Revealed - Into the world: An 'old boy' in the 17th Lancers Regiment

This former resident of St Bede's Home in Wakefield, is dressed in the full uniform of the 17th Lancers. Many boys were well prepared for a career in the army through their experiences in children's homes. Boys in the Society's care were trained to perform army drills, and some homes formed military-style brass bands.
