				Description:  This former resident of St Bede's Home in Wakefield, is dressed in the full uniform of the 17th Lancers. Many boys were well prepared for a career in the army through their experiences in children's homes. Boys in the Society's care were trained to perform army drills, and some homes formed military-style brass bands.
