ever short of money, for I always gave her 1 1/2 a week pocketmoney. & Mrs. Shelton would also give her halfpennies & pennies a few pence were given at offertories &c. I made her tell me the full details - though it was very unwillingly she did so. She had stolen 1d from her "mother" as she calls Mrs. S.

The redeeming points I think are that she did not try to hide what she stole. [?] she [told] [?] of course about each theft. She wanted to cut up the ribbons to tie her hair at Sunday School, the neat day, only Mrs. S. said they were too good & must be kept for hat trimming. This shows that the child is not cunning -- also that she gave some of it away. though I think she felt it was when I pointed out the wickedness of offering stolen money to God in church. I fear this was at an early [?]
